Termite Inspection Report

Just because you don’t see them, doesn’t mean they aren’t there.

Our primary service is providing quality home inspections for residential real estate transactions. We are already inspecting the house so it just makes sense to inspect for termites and other wood destroying insects.

Wood Boring Beetles

Both urban and rural home owners may encounter beetles in their home. The damage they cause comes from the tunneling beetles do to lay their eggs and they typically don’t eat the wood as do termites. While beetles are an important part of the environment, they certainly don’t belong in the home.

Carpenter Ants

One of the most common home pest in the US, the carpenter ant can cause massive damage as they weaken wood by tunneling in to lay their eggs. An interesting note is that the main colony may be outside while satellite colonies may form in locations moist from leaks and condensation.

Carpenter Bees

These insects look very similar to bumble bees in shape and size but have a shiny abdomen that lacks the distinct fuzz of a bumble bee. They also do not eat the wood, just tunneling into bare, exposed surfaces as much as 6 inches to lay their eggs. Painted or treated wood is an effective deterrent.
